Terrain The Jurassic Coast is famed for its undulations. With quite possibly more up then down the terrain is challenging to say the least. Very steep rocky cliff paths, shingle, sand, mud and some tarmac if you are lucky. The first section of the route starts aggressively with a climb up Golden Cap early on then levels out for a nice stroll along Chesil Bank. Then through the lovely flat sea side resort of Weymouth then it really starts: Osmington Mills, Ringstead Bay, Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and Tyneham village finishing at Kimmeridge Bay. The last 3rd of the route is probably the wildest of the lot passing over Chapmans Pool, St Aldhelms Head and Dancing Ledge before hauling you up and over Ballard Down to tip your hat to Old Harry rocks, finishing at Shell Bay, Studland. For a sneaky peek at the route and what's in store for you have a look at the JCC 2007 video. The link is on the top right hand side of this page. Obviously you donít have the luxury of doing the route in 3 days like the Jurassic Coast Challenge runners.
The event is self navigation. You must be able to use a map and compass effectively. A large part of the running is done at night along the cliff paths. There is a inherent danger to any one entering this event. You must be 100% confident in your ability to operate effectively through the night and in to the next day.
You have to maintain a average speed of just over 3 mph to complete the distance in 24hrs. Check point cut off times will be calculated and published before the event. If you are late for a check point you will be removed from the race.

Facilities Votwo are providing:
Postal and online information pack approx two weeks before the event. This will include water proof route maps, Check point timings and emergency Ďactions oní and contact numbers.
Transport, once you have arrived at the meeting point near the chain ferry, Sandbanks, then mini buses are provided to take you to the start point.
Check points, Approx every 10 miles there is a check point. These check points provide food, drink and a safety net to make sure you are on route and not lost. Check points have cut of times relevant to just over 3mph pace. If you do not make the cut off times you will not be allowed to continue as part of the ONER.
The CPs are well stocked with water, hot drinks, fresh filled roles, Mule bars and at the half way point and finish you will receive a hot pasta meal. Your name and race number are recorded at each check point splits, overall results will be displayed on the website after the event.
Meat wagon, If you retire or are pulled off the course then mini bus transport will take you back to your car.
Medical cover, Event medicals will be on route and will be called in if required.

Events refund policy: Any cancellation received by email to events@votwo.co.uk more than 14 days prior to the event date will receive a 50% refund. Only emailed cancellations are acceptable. Cancellations made in the last 14 days will not be eligible for any refund.
In the highly unlikely case that an event is cancelled at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. extreme weather, Foot and Mouth or similar) the event will be re-scheduled for the next available date and all entry fees carried over to that date.
If access to the Lulworth Ranges is restricted a alternative route will be used.
If the race is stopped on route due to extreme weather then arrangements will be made to accommodate entrants until it is safe to continue on route or stop the event. No refunds will be made in the event of the race being stopped due to circumstances out side of the event directors control.

Bens Comments The history of this event goes some way to describing how hard the event is. In 2007, 20 runners started the course and only 5 finished. In 2008 the event had to be pulled at the first check point as the weather had deteriorated to the point where preventing loss of life became a priority. The 50 or so runners were taken to a shelter point until 5am when they started a short version of the course (50 miles!). Only 18 made it to the end. If you want a real 'life' challenge do this race. If you want a easy life, donít.
