Niet te lastige trail van ruim 50 km door Schotland.
The race is approximately 33 miles long and starts just outside Strathyre. The route is run on a variety of surfaces, but all good underfoot, so it would make a nice race for those looking to step up from marathon distance. Of course, being Scotland in November, the weather might add a wee extra chellenge to the proceedings.
The route is out and back, so you don't need to worry about transport back to the start.
The race will start from Strathyre at 8am. There's no hard and fast cut-off time, but the plan is to head to the pub at 4pm so that's your target time for finishing. That's about a 4mph average which should be more than doable for everyone over this course.
We'll provide water every 7 miles or so and once you've finished, pick up your goody bag and head to The Inn Bistro for your complimentary race bowl of hot soup and a drink.
Here's the race course profile with the altitude shown in feet. The first 5 miles or so are on forest trails & very quiet country B roads out the back of Strathyre, headed towards Balquihidder. After this, the majority of the rest of the route is on cycle paths and forest trails so its good conditions underfoot and nothing technical although depending on the weather, the forest could be a bit wet in places. The final section is again on quiet B roads leading you back tot he start at Strathyre.
After a sharp, short climb at around 8 miles, the section up the Glen and over the viaduct itself is very gradual. You do most of your climbing in that short section and then you'll be surprised by how high above Lochearnhead and the road over to your right you actually are.
