A successful premiere
741 runners from 25 nations and 6 continents entered the first Stockholm Ultra Marathon, which made it the largest and most international ultra race ever in Scandinavia.
Participants gave top marks to the premiere in 2013. Here are some of their comments:
Ė What a fantastically well organised race ! An extra thank you to the officials who did everything they could to cheer and support us, it meant a lot.
Ė A wonderful experience. Iím already training for next year.
Ė I want to congratulate you on a well organised Stockholm Ultra Marathon. I have run almost 100 ultra marathons, and Stockholm was the best organised; food, drink, information, number of toilets Ė everything was excellent.
Ė My ultra debut was memorable and gave me the appetite for more.
Ė 50km Ö. Imagine how far that is but imagine how easy it actually was with such fantastic officials, co-runners and the crowd ! What support, thanks for your help ! A fine course and great atmosphere, it has made me want to do more Ö.
Ė Fantastic, beautiful course, great to run and check on the screen at the end of each lap how many more there were. Ultra running is much more fun than the marathon. Here there were really good things to eat at the refreshment stations ! Good atmosphere. Thanks to all the officials to helped us along the course and at the stations. Iím very happy, we also received a nice medal and t-shirt.
Steven Way from Great Britain gave Stockholmís new ultra course the highest credential when he won the 100km race in 6:40:14. This is the second best time in the world in 2013, only 15 seconds off the yearís fastest time.
