De Helipad Ultra ging in 2021 niet in de gebruikelijke vorm door. De datum voor 2022 is bekend, het weekend van 22-24 april. In details kunnen er verschillen zijn met de editie van 2021 die hieronder beschreven wordt.

Op 23/24/25April 2021organiseert Run-Real 4 ultralopen gebaseerd op het Hertog Limburg pad oftewel Helipad. Elke variant gaat door Nederland, België en Duitsland. Er komen dit jaar 4 afstanden van resp 55, 80, 167 en 202km die allemaal in één keer worden afgelegd

April 23-25th 2021Run-Real is organising 4 ultra runs, based on the path through the 12th century Duchy of Limburg or Helipad as an abbreviation. Every run is going through the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. The distances are 55, 80, 167 and 202km in one go.

ALGEMEEN:

De route is NIET uitgepeild, je moet hem met behulp van een GPX-bestand lopen. We gaan ervan uit dat je het omgaan met een GPX bestand zelf voorbereidt. Dit jaar komen er geen backup kaarten, omdat in het verleden vrijwel niemand ze gebruikte.

Het parcours bestaat grofweg voor 31% uit bospaden, 38% uit landwegen en 31% asfalt voor de 167km. De 202km heeft relatief veel meer onverharde weg en de 55km relatief meer verharde weg. Ik noem het een hybride trail en dat vormt tevens de uitdaging. Sommige stukken zijn mogelijk zeer drassig, vooral langs de Geul. Er zijn veel prachtige wijdse uitzichten, vooral vanaf Grube Adolf bij Herzogenrath kun je 40km in het rond kijken bij mooi weer. General:

There are NO signs during the race, you have to be self reliant on GPX, so we suppose you know how to deal with a GPS device. You will only get a GPX file that you have to download on your device before the race starts.

The track consists roughly out of 31% forest tracks, 38% dirt tracks and 31% tarmac for the 167km. The 202km has relatively a lot more forest and the 55km slightly more tarmac. We do call it a hybrid run, which imposes its own particularities. There are a lot of wide open views over hills, with over 40km away from certain tops with nice weather.
