To our regrets we must tell you that we are not able to organize the World Challenge and the European Challenge 24 hours 2004 on May 21 and 22 in Apeldoorn.
The local government promised us in 2001 to give us certain facilities and that was for us the reason to organize the World Challenge and the European Challenge 24 hours in 2004.
Now in 2004 in March the same local government decided they have no possibilities to realize those promises.
We must make this decision otherwise there will be no 24 hours runs in Apeldoorn in the future.
Still the open race (24 and 6 hours) and the Dutch Championship 24 hours will be continued.

Hallo Martien,
Het gaat niet goed.
Wij hebben de WC en EC afgemeld.
Na geen subsidie van NOC/NSF heeft uiteindelijk ook de gemeente Apeldoorn in
alle wijsheid besloten ons de beloofde susidie niet toe te kennen.
Als we door zouden gaan zou dat het einde betekenen van onze stichting.
Bijgaand de inhoud van de brieven aan de KNAU en aan IAU.
Er waren pas weinig inschrijvingen van de landenteams binnen, hoewel ik weet
dat er bij andere landen al veel voorbereidingen zijn.
Helaas dus.
Je kan het beter zo van mij te weten komen dan dat het al de ronde zou doen.
De open race en het NK gaan gewoon door.
Daarvoor komen wel de inschrijvingen op schema binnen.
Ook gaan wij in zee met de Marathon- / Ultracup.
