2007 Calendar Ultramarathons The Netherlands

The full list of 23 ultra runs in The Netherlands for 2007, as of end of October 2006. There are 14 runs planned on loops varying between 0.4 (track) and 10 km, plus 9 landscape runs on courses of 22 to 500 km in addition.

{i}Samenvatting. Onderstaand de Engelstalige lijst van de Nederlandse ultralopen in 2007, zoals eind oktober 2006 bekend. Er worden ten behoeve van de buitenlandse UltraNed-bezoekers wat karakteristieken bij elke loop genoemd, zodat zij een indruk krijgen van het soort ultraloop. Alle ultralopen staan ook al in de kalender sectie van UN. Heel goed nieuws kwam half oktober: de Int. 24-Uurloop Apeldoorn gaat op 18/5 2007 gewoon door, en daarmee is ook het NK 24 uur veilig gesteld! Winschoten 8/9 is volgend jaar het belangrijkste ultra-evenement: de RUN 2007 is de gastheer van de {b}IAU WC & EC 100 km{eb} (en ook het NK 100 km).{ei}

{b}2007 Calendar Ultramarathons The Netherlands
(Version 31 October 2006)

Below the current list of 23 ultra runs in The Netherlands for 2007. There are 14 runs on loops varying between 0.4 km (track) and 10 km, plus 9 landscape runs on loops or sections of 22 km up to 500 km. The latter stage run (7 days) is from the Pietersberg near Maastricht all the way northwards to Pieterburen near the Wadden Sea (from ‘berg’ to ‘wad’). The 10th edition will also be the final edition! So if you ever want to discover in one week the beauty of the eastern, ‘high’ side of the Netherlands, please enlist this time ;-).

Each run is denoted with its geographical name of the start (& finish) site printed in bold. The (J-C) marking means that the loop is officially measured by a federation official with a bike equipped with a calibrated Jones/Oerth-Counter.

The most important race in The Nederlands in 2007 is without discussion the {b}100 km IAU World Cup and European Championship in Winschoten (RUN 2007 on Saturday 8 September).{eb} The RUN 2007 Winschoten will also organise again the 50 km race, part of the IAU 50K Trophy circuit.
(Please note that the international 24 hrs world championship will be:
{b}Saturday 28 July 2007 IAU World Challenge 24 hours, Drummondville, Canada{eb}
The IAU has received no formal offer/application yet for the organization of the IAU European Challenge 24 hours)

The following ultraruns in the list below will be {b}official KNAU races{eb}, in chronological order:
Stein 6 hrs, Steenbergen 6 hrs, Texel 120 & 60 km, Apeldoorn 24 & 6 hrs, Hoofddorp 6 hrs, Den Haag 12 & 6 hrs, Brielle 50 km, Winschoten 100 & 50 km, Amersfoort 6 hrs, Deventer 100 km and Epe 6 hrs. The 100 km track race in Deventer, that will happen 12 Nov 2006, will reappear on 11 Nov 2007, either in Deventer (as in the list below) or in some other city.
To my estimate at least five out of these eleven KNAU-races will also apply for {b}IAU Labels{eb} in 2007.
IAU Gold Label: Apeldoorn 24 hrs and RUN Winschoten 100 & 50 km
IAU Silver Label: Texel 120 & 60 km
IAU Bronze Label: Stein 6 hrs and Steenbergen 6 hrs.

Two races that were on the calendar 2006 are biannual so will not reappear in 2007 but in 2008: the {b}Jan Knippenberg Memorial{eb}(JKM) is twinned with the 120/60 km around Texel so will reappear on Easter Saturday 22 March 2008, and hopefully then not only includes the loop of 50 EM from and to Den Helder but also the full 100 miles (160 km) all the way along the beach from Hook of Holland to Den Helder. The Six Hours {b}Heerde{eb} is twinned with the Six Hours Epe and will be organised at the end of this year (Wednesday 27 Dec 2006) and then reappear at the end of 2008.

Check for all details the run info on the websites that are listed, although these may not have been fully updated yet for the 2007 edition.
Please note that the email addresses are written with the @ sign substituted by the word ‘provider’, in order to make these addresses less vulnerable for automatic internet search programs that generate address lists for spam mailings.
