Op 1 juli zijn Jesper Olsen en Sarah Barnett samen met o.a. Peter Rietveld op de Noordkaap gestart aan Jesper’s tweede Wereld Run, nu van noord naar zuid in Europa en Afrika en dan van zuid naar noord van Zuid-Amerika naar Canada: http://www.worldrun.org/
In totaal gaat ook deze tocht weer 40000 km omvatten, met een tijdschema van 3 jaar (!).

09:22am. at “Rovaniemi 250km” on the E75. 12c, overcast and no wind. Alt. 330m, 968hPa. Finish 16:40pm. at “Rovaniemi 190km” on E75. 19c, half overcast and same. Alt. 300m., 978hPa.
We decided to make it a longer stage and ran 60km instead of the planned 30km. All took the change, proposed by Sarah who is allways eager for an extra challenge :-), in good spirit. When we asked Reima if he was ok w. another 60km stage for tomorrow his answer was: “H?v? !” (OK !!).

First stage ! We started out in fine weather from Nordkapp: Sarah & I bound for New Foundland if all goes well and our bodies will allow us. We have good compagny by Peter Rietveld of Holland who will run w. us to Helsinki , Finland. I first met Peter when he decided to run w. me across the Rocky Mountains during world run one; by that time not an ultrarunner untill his first stage across the mountains. By now member of the dutch national team and going to the world championships on 24hour running later this year. Also Erik Nossum from Norway is running as part of the team and intends to take part in our daily stages untill we reach the Norwegian-Finland border. Besides beeing a very good ultrarunner on 12h-races he is the first “local contact” on wr2 and has done an exceptional work in detail research of the stages ! THANK You, Erik 🙂 As support we have the pleasure of Geir (supply car) and Irma (supply bike). On the first 5km we had the joy of sharing the km’s w. running journalist Michael Stærk from Tv2 Sport. Allways a pleasure when a journalist makes an extra effort to understand the run ! {i}Noot van Martien Baars{ei} Uit het eerste dagbericht valt af te lezen dat naast Jan-Albert Lantink ook Peter Rietveld naar het WK 24 uur in Seoul wil. Rietveld werd 2e op het NK 24 uur in Steenbergen met bijna 211 km. Binnenkort moet de voorlopige inschrijving geschieden voor Seoul en dan horen we van Jaap Vis waar de Nederlandse afvaardiging naar het WK 24 uur uit gaat bestaan.
