Run Across America 2004

There is only a couple of weeks left for entering this transcontinental race, and it may well be your last chance to run across America – the directors retire after this edition!

Dear editors:
I understand you have a great website on ultrarunning. I am wanting to publicize Run Across America 2004. I know you have many good ultrarunners in Belgium and in the Netherlands and I wonder if you can help.
I wrote the following which might be of assistance to you:

Run Across America 2004

The closing date for entries for next year’s race is close: December 12, 2003.
This will be the last race in the current edition as the race directors are retiring after this race. It is far from clear whether anyone else will follow in their footsteps as transcontinental races are a bear to organize. The Trans-Australia and the Trans-Europe both disappeared after only one race! So, if you ever dreamed of running across America — this may be your last chance.

Full details of the race are set out in the website set up for the race and here is a link http://www.runacrossamerica2004.com/

If you would like to know about the 2002 run you can find out all about it by clicking here http://www.runacrossamerica2002.com/

The whole idea of the December 12 cutoff is to give runners six months in which to prepare specifically for this race. Assuming you have been running ultras all summer then six months’ training should be enough to prepare you for the hardest run in the world — 71 consecutive ultras averaging 44 miles per day across deserts, mountains and great plains in one of the most beautiful countries in the world!
