14.40 Casiraghi (ITA) passed through 60km in about 4.32 – 6 minutes ahead of Bruce (GBR) and Herry (FRA) who are still running together. Moving smoothly into 4th place is Fricotteaux (FRA) 2 minutes behind.

Ardemagni took the lead but has to watch out for the Russian Kharitonov (second last year). At 70K Mario was less than 2¡¦ in the lead of Oleg and it seems that the next European Champion will be one of them. Denis Zhalybin is out of the race.
